Hire design engineers from Latin America

A design engineer is the person who notices that the modal traps focus incorrectly and also knows how to fix it. The role is rare, badly defined, and the reason most product UIs feel almost right.

Brief us on this role

Brief us Monday; we aim to send the write-ups by Friday. Search, interviews and a shortlist you decline cost nothing.

The two hours before you meet them

The candidate is handed a Figma frame and an existing component that nearly matches it, and asked to reconcile the two. We are watching whether they extend the component API or fork it, whether they check the keyboard path unprompted, and whether they can defend a spacing decision with something other than "it looked better".

What we fail people for

A syntax quiz proves nothing. These are the mistakes that decide a no, and they only surface once the work stops being tidy.

Pixel-matches and breaks the system
Reproduces the frame exactly by forking a component, adding a fourth button variant nobody can maintain.
Motion with no intent
Animates because it is possible. No sense of duration, easing, interruption, or prefers-reduced-motion.
Accessibility as a checklist
Adds aria attributes without ever tabbing through the thing they built.

Stack we test

Tools change. Judgment travels. We still test in the stack your team runs, including the paths where it breaks.

  • React and TypeScript
  • Tailwind / CSS architecture
  • Figma to production
  • motion and interaction design
  • WCAG and keyboard accessibility
  • design tokens and component APIs

They join your team, not a bench

An embedded engineer sits in your standup, your repo and your Slack from day one. We never leave the loop: the founder who vetted them still reads their code weekly or every two weeks, then sends that read in writing.

Engineers you get to know
You get a person with a name, a write-up and a calendar. Nobody is swapped out behind your back, and no second account manager sits between you and them.
They work inside your process
Your repo, your board, your standup, your review rules. We do not run a parallel delivery process or insert a project manager you did not ask for.
We stay in the engagement
The founder who ran the vetting reads the work weekly or every two weeks and sends you one page: what shipped, what stalled, and where we would push back on you.
4 to 6 hours of real overlap
Latin American time zones mean the working day overlaps yours, so review, pairing and incident response happen live rather than on a 12-hour delay.

What design engineers cost

One hourly rate in USD covers their pay, our fee, the vetting, contracts and invoicing. The band comes from what they did in the pairing session, not the title on their CV.

Questions about hiring design engineers

We aim for one to three design engineers by the Friday after your brief, but it depends on who clears the bar. It is the rarest of the four roles we place, so expect the shorter end of that shortlist.

See a sample write-up

Every shortlisted candidate arrives with what we saw, where they were strong and what they got wrong. Read one before you decide whether this process is any different.

Read the sample vetting write-up

Twenty minutes. You leave knowing whether we can fill the role.

Tell us the stack, the scope and the seniority. On the call you get a straight answer on whether we can fill it and what it would cost. If we take it on, a founder pairs with each candidate and you get one to three names with the write-ups attached. If nobody clears the bar, we say so instead of padding the list.

Or email . We read every single email.
